ITOKI Expands Its "High Aseismic Performance Partition G" Lineup

Steel Partition Capable of Withstanding Severe Earthquakes

ITOKI CORPORATION (President: Tadashi Matsui) will add products with a new glass style, transom open style, and other styles to its highly aseismic steel partition lineup, “High Aseismic Performance Partition G,” launching them in 2015.

When the Great East Japan Earthquake occurred in March 2011, steel partitions fell over and caused injuries. ITOKI launched the “High Aseismic Performance Partition G” lineup of full steel panels and steel doors in November 2013 as part of its missions to protect human life and preserve the functions of indoor spaces.

Since the last release, a great deal of customer feedback has been delivered to ITOKI, providing suggestions for disaster control. For example, suggestions point to the need for spaces that can be used as an evacuation route, safe spaces for stranded commuters to stay, meeting rooms usable as a disaster control rooms, secured areas for information technology such as server rooms, and stockpile rooms. In light of such customer feedback, ITOKI has added to its general styles of steel partitions, including glass panels and transom open panels.

Product Features

1) Steel partitions capable of withstanding severe earthquakes

* We recommend conducting aseismic performance diagnoses on all existing ceilings.

The existing aseismic performance standard for steel partitions requires “1 G horizontal acceleration and 0.5 G vertical acceleration” and “in-plane deformation of 1/150 relative story displacement.”
This product complies with the new national technical standard (some of the announced specifications) for ceilings, escalators, etc., and meets the “2.2 G horizontal acceleration in the ceiling surface*” and “1/40 relative story displacement” Standards.

* “2.2 G horizontal acceleration in the ceiling surface” applies only in combination with high aseismic performance ceilings.

The effectiveness was demonstrated in not only highly aseismic performance ceilings, but also in existing ceilings reinforced with braces or similar components.

2) Wide variety of styles available, including glass style, in response to customer feedback and suggestions
