Ever since its foundation in 1969, the KODAIRA Certified Tax Accountant Office has been supporting small and medium sized businesses by offering one-stop service consolidating tax accountant, administrative scrivener and licensed social insurance consultant services.

In recent years, the office has started offering the solutions for maintenance of the information infrastructure by using ICT technology.

The office decided to construct a new office building in 2011 due to an increase of staff members and the aging of the old office building.

The operation of the new office started in July, 2012.

Assignment

The concept of the office is “creation of a workplace of dreams” which enables “hospitality space for the guests” and “creative space for knowledge workers” to stand together.

We wanted to create a friendly and relaxing space in the certified tax accountant office with an atmosphere in which people will not hesitate to seek advice. We aimed at transforming the business style from the conventional style of visiting the client office to the new style of inviting the clients to the accountant office. We also emphasized establishing a creative environment which enhances intra-company cooperation.

Solutions

On the first floor, we used furniture made with natural wood to create a comfortable atmosphere for the clients so they can feel ambience of nature. We positioned the space as a welcoming space, completely changing the conventional image of the certified tax accountant office being an uncomfortable place to visit.

For the work space on the second floor occupied by two departments with different work styles, we employed the assigned desk system to enhance the concentration and functionality. We also employed the non-territorial layout which allows each group member to select his/her desk within the group in accordance with the work style of each department.

In addition, the cafe corner connecting two departments is positioned as the space which facilitates conversations from different perspectives, information exchange between the departments and thus allows for various, unanticipated encounters among employees.

The “workplace of dreams” has been established by realizing “hospitality” and “intellectual creation.”
