Project Concept

The creative space with the free-address layout producing a new value by an individual and team.

Ever since its establishment in 1927, the Mandom Corporation has developed its business on its basic concept of "making contribution to a comfortable life through beauty and health." In addition to its core business of the male grooming business featuring "Gatsby" and "Lucid" as its main products, the company has been promoting its unique businesses such as "Female cosmetics business" and "Female cosmetaries business" with "Only One" as the slogan.

The 8th floor, 7th floor and the annex (M-space) in the company's main office building located in Chuo Ward, Osaka City, Osaka, Japan were renewed over three years from 2012 with the objective to create an office which enhances more creative thinking.

Assignment

We created the office which allows the employees to work in various styles with the concept of enabling employees to work with excitement, to bring out their creativity and sensitivity to promote intellectual creation and to display the best individual performance for the business which is aiming to be “Only One.”

Solutions

We laid out the office which allows for a natural merger of people and goods by removing all partitioning walls and cabinets, employing a non-territorial layout, providing the casual meeting space and providing an area to relax over a cup of coffee to facilitate communication among the departments.

Due to concerns regarding the environment, thinned wood was used to create the furniture and flooring. In addition, the annex (M-SPACE), a renovated residential building, provides the space for meetings with a refreshed mood which is created by simply being isolated from the main building. This space is useful for communication with foreign guests.
